[PHP-users 16935]header fileが見つかりません？

tkと申します。
かなり初心者です。
サーバーを引っ越しして、新しいサーバーにphpをインストールしました。

php-4.2.3-multibyteをソースから、FreeBSD4.7にインストールして、
その後で、--enable mbregexが抜けていたことに気が付き、再configureを
実行したのですが、configureの途中で、エラーとなってしまいました。
configure: error: Cannot find header files under /usr/local/lib

再configureの際に、make cleanをしようとしたのですが、これもエラーと
なりmake cleanできず、再度ソースからはじめました。

「headerがない」？というのは、なんのheaderのことなのでしょうか？
誠に恐れ入りますが、アドバイスお願いできますでしょうか？

以前のサーバーで使っていたphpで、日本語正規表現を使っているので、
現在そのページはエラーが表示されて非常に弱っています。
